| FORNEY - Career nights from quarterback Johnny Hamilton and receiver Jaden Hurndon werent enough for Longview to overcome the three-pronged rushing attack of Legend Bey, Cordai Woodard and Andikan Asuquo as the Lobos fell 56-55 to the Falcons in District 10-6A action at Better Life Stadium.
The Lobos drop to 5-4 overall and 3-2 in district play with the loss, while North Forney moves to 8-1 and 3-1. Ironically, North Forneys lone loss this season was a 56-55 setback in a game that saw them miss an extra point. On Friday, the Lobos scored late, but a failed PAT ended up leaving them a point short in what was just the second overall meeting between the Lobos and the Falcons. Longview won last years game 21-0. Bey carried 18 times for 243 yards and four touchdowns to head up an offensive attack that piled up 694 total yards and 560 rushing yards. Woodard carried 11 times for 185 yards and a TD, and Asuquo finished with 132 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries. Hamilton completed 15 of 19 passes for 374 yards and five touchdowns in the loss for the Lobos. Hurndon had eight catches for 195 yards and three TDs. Javier Glave caught two passes for 73 yards and a TD, and Kaidon Graves hauled in a 70-yard TD pass from Hamilton. Mason Washington rushed for 53 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries, and Kylon Cummings scored one rushing TD for Longview, which finished with 471 total yards. North Forney led 21-7 late in the first quarter, but the Lobos scored with 45 seconds left in the quarter to make it 21-14 and then scored 28 unanswered points in the second stanza to build a 42-21 halftime lead. The teams traded scores early in the third, and then North Forney scored three straight times - scoring on a Asuquo 1-yard run and then tying the game at 49-49 on a 2-point conversion pass from Bey to Briceson Thrower. North Forney went on top 56-49 with 9:05 to play, but the Lobos got a 14-yard TD pass from Hamilton to Hurndon with 3:29 left before missing the PAT that would have tied the contest. The Lobos will return home next week to close out the regular season against Royse City. North Forney will visit Rockwall. |
